General Information
There is no temperature limit for the competition.
Safety – Use of a helmet is mandatory. We also recommend using goggles during the race. The organizer’s insurance covers the competition event; any additional insurance is the competitor’s own responsibility.
Race Number – For individual distances, the race number must be worn by the competitor and must be clearly visible from the front.
Warm-up on the race tracks is allowed according to the announcer’s instructions. The goal is to have the track open for warm-up at least half an hour before the first start of the competition. We also aim to organize a track walkthrough on Friday – this will be announced by Friday morning, Feb 13th.
Warm-up gear can be left on the fence near the starting area.
Kicksleds – Kicksleds provided by ESLA (both standard and racing models) are available at the start for use in the competition. If you use your own kicksled, it must comply with the official rules.
Footwear – use of anti-slip soles, studded shoes, and track spikes is permitted.
Start – In the sprint, the start is given by the starter’s signal according to the schedule. In the interval start competition, the signal is given by the starting clock.
NOTE! Starting is only permitted by kicking. The method of progression is running or kicking with the sled for the entire distance.
Finish – The finish is recorded at the moment when the competitor’s chest crosses the finish line. At the finish, the competitor must be in physical contact with the kicksled (link to rules here).
Sprint 100 m, Heats
Competitors must be at the start on time for heat groupings. Heat sizes depend on the number of participants. The best from each heat advance to semifinals/finals – detailed instructions will be provided once the number of competitors is confirmed. Progression must take place along the competitor’s own designated lane.
2000 m, Interval Start
Be at the starting area on time; check your specific start time. If you are late for your start, you may start after receiving clearance from the starter, BUT you must not disturb the competitor currently starting. In the interval start race, a competitor being overtaken must allow a smooth pass.
